Limestone Fireplaces

Natural Stone brings grace to many architectural wonders.

Limestone fireplaces are manufactured for sectional assemby due to the weight and physical handling practicalities. Generally speaking they form a hearth, the main body standing on the hearth, [which can be a complete section, or component parts made up of two uprights ('legs') and a header section].  A back panel, again either as a whole with a "cut-out" to accommodate an inset fire or, as a three piece back panel, together with a mantel top.

The limestone fireplace is crafted from natural material found in several countries, each having their own characteristics. The Portuguese limestone has a light colour with subtle greyish viening and is widely sourced for a fireplace intended for gas or electric fires. The fireplaces seen below are all manufactured from Portuguese limestone and of the best quality material available. However, not practically suitable for use with solid fuel fires where a heavier darker limestone would be used and constructed for that purpose.
